No major changes are proposed to the landscape in this area, which formed part of the recent Heritage Lottery Fund supported conservation works.
The main landscape proposal is to improve the cricket pitch and enhance the framing of the Ground with clumps of trees the formerly existed during the period WG Grace played cricket here.
A new cricket pavilion is proposed to the north both to facilitate club level cricket matches and reinforce the sporting heritage of Crystal Palace Park as cricket was one of the first sports to be introduced to the Park. It is also envisaged the pavilion will also serve as a multi functional events space which will be available for hire. The most notable feature is an illuminated clock tower which will double as scoreboard and a roost for bats.
The current Park Management Facility located on the northern boundary will be relocated next to the Sydenham entrance to provide a maintenance compound for Park staff.
The current St John's Ambulance, 1 O'clock Club buildings and former Park Rangers compound on the site of former villas lost during the Second World War are to be included as sites for possible new residential development as an option that will only be exercised if other funding sources for basic Park improvements are unobtainable.
